# AI voicemail for your personal phone number

Voxie Personal is an AI executive assistant for personal calls. Instead of leaving a message after a recorded greeting, callers speak with an assistant that asks questions, captures the request and sends an SMS summary with access to the transcript and recording. A dedicated AI number is provided: forward missed calls from an existing mobile number, or share the AI number as an executive assistant’s direct line.

## Setup

1. Contact the setup agent: Call or text 415-943-1040 and specify Personal voicemail.
2. Describe the greeting and responsibilities: Explain how the AI should introduce itself, what to ask callers and which information it may provide.
3. Receive and test the AI number: A number is assigned from the existing pool and sent by SMS. Call it directly from another phone and check its greeting and message-taking.
4. Complete activation: Payment is completed through a secure payment link. Current fees and plan terms are listed on the Products page.
5. Configure conditional call forwarding: Use the carrier-specific dial codes or phone settings supplied for the mobile service, then test the complete missed-call flow.

## Setup requirements

### Existing service
An active mobile number and a carrier plan supporting conditional call forwarding.

### AI number
Provided from Voxie’s existing number pool during setup; there is no need to acquire one separately. Bringing an existing number is also an option, with connection arrangements agreed for its provider and channels.

### Subscriber contact
A phone number that can receive setup messages, notifications and verification messages when required.

### Instructions
A greeting, details the assistant should collect, and any information or next steps it may share.

### Carrier settings
The supported forwarding conditions, applicable carrier charges and a way to restore the previous voicemail destination.

## Two ways to use the assistant’s number
Both options use the same personalized assistant. They can be used together: existing contacts keep calling the mobile number, while other people reach the assistant directly.

Call your mobile → Missed call forwards → AI takes the message
Call your assistant number → AI answers directly → You receive a summary
### Replace personal voicemail
Keep the mobile number people already know. Carrier-specific conditional call forwarding sends unanswered, busy or unreachable calls to the supplied AI number.

### Share an executive assistant number
Give the AI number to people who should speak with the assistant directly. Calls reach it without first ringing the personal mobile line.

### Keep or bring a number
The supplied AI number is ready for setup. Bringing an existing number is also an option, with arrangements reviewed for its current provider and required channels.

## Phone type and carrier support
The carrier and plan determine which forwarding conditions are supported; the handset determines how the controls are exposed. GSM service code 004 groups all conditional forwarding, but a single combined activation command is not verified here for every U.S. carrier.

### iPhone
Apple directs users to the carrier for conditional forwarding setup. The general Call Forwarding switch should not be assumed to configure only missed calls. Live Voicemail adds a separate on-device answering path: if it answers instead of the AI during testing, review that setting and retest.

### Android
Some phones expose separate unanswered, unreachable and busy options in the Phone app. Samsung lists Phone → Settings → Supplementary services → Call forwarding, but menu availability varies by carrier and model.

### Feature or flip phone
A smartphone app is not required. Supported devices use carrier dial codes or call-settings menus. AT&T’s DuraXE Epic guide, for example, lists separate unanswered, unreachable and busy settings; other feature phones may differ.

## Conditional call forwarding
Conditional forwarding lets the mobile phone ring normally and redirects a call when a specified condition applies. Always-forward settings send every call to the AI instead.

### Unanswered
The phone rings and forwards if the subscriber does not answer within the carrier’s configured interval.

### Busy
A call forwards when the carrier treats the line as busy. Call-waiting settings can affect this behavior.

### Unreachable
The carrier forwards when the phone is unavailable, such as when it has no coverage or is switched off.

## U.S. mobile dial codes for unanswered calls
U.S. mobile service only. Use the assigned AI number—not the setup or public chat number. Replace NUMBER with its 10 digits. The example 555-222-3333 below is illustrative; the table shows whether to include a leading 1. Do not type a + sign, spaces or dashes.

Enter the appropriate command in the phone’s normal dialer, select the correct SIM, press Call or Send and wait for confirmation. Carrier and reseller eligibility varies. Source instructions checked October 26, 2026.

Verizon documents busy/no-answer forwarding after 3–6 rings. These instructions do not establish forwarding when the phone is off or has no signal; confirm that behavior with Verizon and test it separately.

1. Test after enabling: Call the mobile number from another phone and let it ring without answering. Confirm the AI answers and the SMS summary arrives.
2. Test after disabling: After using the disable code, make another missed call to confirm where it goes. Restoring the original carrier voicemail destination may require carrier assistance.

## Setup verification

1. Check a direct call: Call the AI number from another phone and confirm the greeting and requested details.
2. Check missed-call forwarding: Call the original mobile number, let it go unanswered and confirm the AI answers.
3. Check the other enabled conditions: Test busy and unreachable behavior separately where the carrier supports them.
4. Check the notification: Confirm the SMS summary arrives and that the transcript and recording access work.
5. Check restoration: Keep the carrier’s instructions for restoring the previous voicemail destination.

## Call flow
The existing mobile number remains the number other people call. The AI number is a separate destination for forwarded calls and can also receive direct calls and texts.

1. A contact calls the mobile number: The mobile carrier applies the forwarding conditions configured for the line.
2. An unanswered, busy or unreachable call forwards: The carrier connects the call to the dedicated AI number instead of the existing voicemail destination.
3. The assistant speaks with the caller: The greeting and saved instructions guide message-taking, including the caller’s name, reason for calling and callback details.
4. The subscriber receives a notification: An SMS provides a concise summary and access to the call transcript and recording.

## What the caller and subscriber experience
A recorded voicemail greeting plays once and waits for a message. The AI can hold a conversation, ask for missing details and follow the subscriber’s instructions before summarizing the request.

### Greeting
An opening such as “You’ve reached Alex’s assistant. How can I help?” identifies whose assistant is answering.

### Message details
The assistant can ask who is calling, why they called and how or when the subscriber should respond.

### Approved next steps
A saved instruction can authorize sharing a booking link or other information. Call transfers require the relevant routing to be configured and tested.

### Notification
The subscriber receives an SMS summary with access to the transcript and recording.

### Creator conversation
The verified creator can ask about messages or adjust the greeting and instructions; an outside caller follows the contact-facing call script.

## Personalization and access
The creator can change the greeting and saved instructions through conversation with the assistant. Personal does not include the Business AI agent management console.

A conversation with the verified creator has different permissions from a conversation with an outside contact. Private creator information and management controls are not available to callers simply because they reached the AI number.

### Greeting
How the AI introduces itself and identifies whose assistant it is.

### Message-taking
The details to collect, such as name, purpose and preferred callback time.

### Approved information
What it may say about availability or next steps.

### Booking links
An approved link can be shared when configured. Sending a booking link is distinct from creating a calendar appointment.

### Conversation context
Relevant context can connect supported sessions and channels for the same recognized contact; separate contacts do not receive a shared private inbox.

## Troubleshooting and operating boundaries

### Carrier voicemail answers first
Check the forwarding destination and no-answer interval with the carrier. Confirm the intended condition is enabled.

### Calls do not forward
Confirm conditional forwarding is supported and active on the correct mobile line. Test the AI number directly to isolate carrier routing from AI answering.

### Notification does not arrive
Check the subscriber notification number and SMS delivery. Report the approximate call time and the symptom to support.

### Language and transcription
Speech recognition and generated answers can make mistakes. Test the intended language, caller accents and names during setup.

### Usage and charges
The service has a metered allowance. Plan details are maintained on Products; carrier forwarding, calling and SMS charges are separate.

### Emergency use
The assistant is not an emergency service. Urgent call-transfer behavior should only be relied on after it is configured and tested for the number.
